PORT SORELL, Tasmania
Structural Engineer – RJK Consulting Engineers. Hydraulic Engineer – RJK Consulting Engineers. Building Surveyor – Braddon Building Surveying. Builder – ET Constructions
A very narrowed skewed shape located on the coastal fringes of Port Sorell. This site sits lower than the street bordering the dunes of the Port Sorell Estuary. Between the dunes and the vegetation of the estuary are pockets of ocean views.
Due to the slender shape of the site it was important to maximise the footprint and work with the balance after the building envelope restrictions were applied. The left over shape formed a ‘shard’ like shape elevated towards the views.
The materials of Limestone, aluminium battens, stria cladding and glass were chosen for their durability due to the coastal proximity but also to have a luxe high end presence to its street and beach frontages
