We’re Tasmanian architects, through and through, delivering projects that span from urban design to commercial and residential architecture.

Starbox is a residential and commercial architecture firm based on the north coast of Tasmania. We’re an astute, driven, creative bunch of designers, passionate about delivering projects for families, individuals and the broader community. Core to our philosophy is placing the human experience at the heart of every house. We create structures that tell your story, solve problems, and bring you closer to the external environment.

Our practice is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects and has been honoured in the Tasmanian Architecture Awards.

Engaging with the Tasmanian landscape

The Tasmanian landscape is known for its untamed beauty, stretching from the rolling hills of the north coast, down to the tangled wilderness of the south west. It is this unique environment that has inspired so much of what Starbox has created, from our custom residences to our public architecture projects. We’re all about designing structures that celebrate the surrounding landscape and enhance the architectural experience.

Partnering with our clients

The job of an architect is incomplete if they have not achieved a structure that actually works for their client. The best way to solve this problem, we think, is to place our relationship with you at the centre of the project, making sure there is communication at every step of the design and construction process. By nature, we’re professional collaborators, so we always deal with client expectations on the front foot, reaching out to you throughout the duration of the project so you’re always on the same page as us.

Sustainable futures

One of the central ideas that guides our design practice is sustainability. Your property exists within a complex and fragile ecosystem, and we always strive for a seamless integration between the natural and built environment. Sustainable architecture starts with an understanding of the site, and how the natural elements affect how a building functions, i.e. insulation, lighting, water usage, electricity usage. These factors are incorporated into a design that reduces its pull on natural resources, and instead functions passively. Starbox Architecture is also deeply committed to using sustainable building materials, like recycled timber.
